Lovely image of this small church. Those yellow leaves look like tiny lanterns, too. F

I like this night shot of this small country church illuminated by fiery lanterns and surrounded by God's greenery. Very nice!
Michael Mazaika replied:
Thank you, Terry. It is a memorable event, held every year at the Antietam National Battlefield. The Memorial Illumination commemorates the 23,400 casualties that occurred here in Sept. 1862. The single costliest day in American history. I hope that you get an opportunity some day to visit here and walk the ground. - Mike

A beautiful church, in a beautiful setting and such a great capture Michael. I can feel the peace that I am sure you must feel when you are there. v/f
Michael Mazaika replied:
It is an incredible event to witness, let alone photograph. 23,400 luminaries placed on the battlefield (one for each casualty - the single greatest loss in one day in American history). I hope you have an opportunity to experience it some day. If not, though, I hope this and other images to come, give you an idea of what it would be like to be there. Thank you very much, Pennie. - Mike

Beautiful work!
Michael Mazaika replied:
Thank you, Marcia Lee. We're about one month away from this annual event (first Sat. in December). I never fail to get goose-bumps when telling other of this event. I hope that you would be able to attend it someday and be as inspired and humbled as I am each year. - Mike
