Description
Sepia toning renders a nostalgic feel to this northwesterly view from West Rolling Mill Road of the Wooddale Covered Bridge over the Red Clay Creek. A steam excursion train of the Wilmington and Western Railroad, running between its Greenbank Station and Hockessin, rumbles by the bridge in the background. Originally built around 1850, the Wooddale Covered Bridge was destroyed by flooding rains in 2003 by Tropical Storm Henri, being rebuilt a few years later by the Delaware Department of Transportation. The original bridge had been added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. Image = DE Covered Bridges New Castle Wooddale-5S 101919 134A-134E E-D M C1 FT B-10 PSP I-PF ES E-PE S75.jpg.

Wonderful work. As many times as I have been to DEL. I have never seen their covered bridges, thanks Michael for your fine work.
Michael Mazaika replied:
Thanks, Skip. There's only three that I know of plus one I found at a development. The train was an added bonus and it turned out it runs excursions from a sration nearby. - Mike

I'm not familiar with that one, great image Michael and the sepia is well done.
Michael Mazaika replied:
There are few left in Delaware, but this one is well worth tracking down, if you can, on fall weekends when the train excursions run. What a bonus that one was. Thanks, Skip. Good to hear from you. - Mike

Michael Mazaika replied:
Thank you, Debra. The steam locomotive passing by was an unexpected bonus. - Mike
