Description
View north-northwesterly towards the Buckhorn Covered Bridge and its interior in the late afternoon sun with storm clouds approaching from the northwest. The bridge takes its current name from nearby Buckhorn Mountain but has also been referred to as the Cogan House (after the township), Larry's Creek (which it crosses), the Day's and Plankenhorn (after nearby settlers in the area) Covered Bridges. The bridge can still carry vehicular traffic but is situated on a little-used, dead end road. Refurbished around 1998, the Buckhorn Covered Bridge was originally built in the late 1870's and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
