Mount Olivet Cemetery is the final resting place of Francis Scott Key, of Frederick, MD, and later Georgetown (near Washington, DC), who authored the Star Spangled Banner, our National Anthem, following the bombardment of Fort McHenry in Baltimore during the War of 1812. His remains and those of his wife were moved from Baltimore, reinterred at the Key family plot at Mount Olivet in 1866, and later placed in a crypt at the base of the monument to him in 1898. Key was a lawyer practicing locally in Frederick as well in Federal posts at and near Washington, DC. The cemetery lies within the bounds of the Frederick Historic District. When I gave my life to Christ it was the fulfillment of the faithful prayers of many others on my behalf. There was no resounding...
