Close view westerly towards West Confederate Avenue and the Pitzer Woods. The statue atop the Mississippi State Monument graphically shows the rage of battle. This rare scene was accentuated by intense morning sunshine to the rear; sun just above the horizon, but still beneath an overnight, lower-level, stratus cloud deck - this light lasting a mere 8 minutes. Gettysburg National Military Park, autumn, sunrise. Image = MS State Close-1A Gettysburg 102211A IGP5617.jpg.

Michael Mazaika replied:
The laser light as the sun was rising in the East was an early morning gift, followed by a visit to the dentist. I had to look at it positively. Thanks Joseph. - Mike

James Brunker
Great shot and colors!
Michael Mazaika replied:
Thank you, James. This was an early morning shot with the sun barely over the horizon to my rear (you see can see that in the extra light at the base of the monument). The sun was cutting thru a low cloud deck. Probably the most dramatic of the monuments at Gettysburg. I'm glad you like it. - Mike
Julie Palencia

Thank you for your kind thoughts, Heidi. Chased after this scene for many, many years living an hour away from the battlefield. But, I'm glad you enjoy it.
