Stunning!

Michael Mazaika replied:

Jeff, this is one of the most inspiring and humbling events that I've been privileged to witness and photograph. My hope is that you could experience it yourself someday - the first Saturday in December each year at the Antietam National Battlefield. Freedom isn't free. I'm glad that you enjoyed this image. - Mike

Artist's Description

View southeasterly from the western end of the Sunken Road or Bloody Lane looking along Richardson Avenue, the darkened undulating terrain marked by scores of luminaries representing only a portion of those who fell during late morning fighting at the Battle of Antietam (Sharpsburg). The monument to the 130th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry appears to stand sentry over the fallen. Antietam National Battlefield Memorial Illumination.
