Description
Mid-day, early autumn sunlight illuminates this northeasterly view towards the St. Mary's Covered Bridge. The Saint Mary's (also known as Shade Gap) Covered Bridge over Shade Creek was built in 1896 and rehabilitated several times since in the last half of the 20th century. It is the only remaining covered bridge in Huntingdon County and was posted on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. Thank you, Ann. This style of bridge construction begins to show up more frequently in west-central PA and continues on into the Midwest of the country. I hope you will enjoy this on-going series and I'm grateful your kind support. - Mike
