Noon time light sets this autumn backroads scene of the Packsaddle Covered Bridge (also known as the Doc Miller Covered Bridge) over Brush Creek on Packsaddle Road, Somerset County, Pennsylvania. Likely the most photogenic of the remaining ten covered bridges in Somerset County. Originally built in 1870, Packsaddle Covered Bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. A beautiful seasonal image! So few of the original covered bridges have survived. Love the pop of red in the fall colors! l/f
Michael Mazaika replied:
Thank you, Lee. You're right; they're a vanishing treasure. But, there's plenty of folks who see the importance of their preservation. Glad you enjoyed this shot. - Mike
