Description
View northwesterly of the restored Cape Meares Lighthouse, also referred to as the Little Iron Giant. Originally constructed in 1889, this octagonal-shaped brick and iron-plated structure is the shortest lighthouse in Oregon at only 38 feet in height. The lighthouse has been rehabilitated from disrepair, abandonment, and vandalism several times over its long history as an aid to coastal navigation. The U.S. Coast Guard deactivated the lighthouse in 1968. Cape Meares Lighthouse was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993. Thank you, Toni. I was trying to render with that old postcard effect. The few times I've been able to visit, I'm never disappointed by the beauty of the West Coast. Thanks again. - Mike
