Description
View northwesterly of the restored Cape Meares Lighthouse, also referred to as the Little Iron Giant. Originally constructed in 1889, this octagonal-shaped brick and iron-plated structure is the shortest lighthouse in Oregon at only 38 feet in height. The lighthouse has been rehabilitated from disrepair, abandonment, and vandalism several times over its long history as an aid to coastal navigation. The U.S. Coast Guard deactivated the lighthouse in 1968. Cape Meares Lighthouse was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993. Thank you for your recent visit, Michael. This one has a very nice composition as well as enticing colors. I love all the vintage bridges and churches so I must come back often, FAV for this gem. FAV

Thank you, Chuck. Although I do not have opportunities to visit there often, the Pacific Coast is a remarkably beautiful part of our Country. Blessings in the New Year ahead. - Mike
