Description
View southeasterly across snowcovered fields and picket fences towards the Phillip Snyder farmhouse along the Emmitsburg Road south of Gettysburg, PA. The lengthening shadows of a winter's late afternoon seem to be saying to the traveler "We'll be home before dark". Gettysburg National Military Park. To me, you have captured the essence of Gettysburg here, well done.
Michael Mazaika replied:
Even that it’s so close, when it snows I tend not to visit following an old Scottish adage applied to golf courses on Sundays - Let her rest. Thank you, Skip. - Mike

Beautiful Winter landscape.......I like your play with light and shadows. This is one of those Winter scenes where you feel the landscape and the cold. Amazing work Michael! Lf
Michael Mazaika replied:
I don't venture out very often in the snow but am very glad I did on this day. Thank you, Mary Lynn, for your gracious comments and support. - Mike

We visited Gettysburg this April while on a collage tour with my daughter. I was so sad because I couldn't spend more time there. I have a need to go back here and learn and appreciate that part of our history. This is simply amazing. I love it!!
Michael Mazaika replied:
If you are able, try visiting around the anniversary of Lincoln's Gettysburg Address in November. There's an event on the exact day and then a marvelous event on the weekend closest to that date called Remembrance Weekend. I've been privileged to visit there for more than 50 years. I hope you'll get an opportunity to walk the ground. Thank you, Elizabeth. - Mike
Donna Kennedy
Fabulous image and color tone Mike!...L
Michael Mazaika replied:
Thank you, Donna. I generally don't visit the battlefields when snow is on the ground but it was fortunate that I did this time around. I'm glad you liked the sepia toning. Be well. - Mike
