Description
A briefly tempting (but never very wise) choice of crossing the frozen and snow-covered Marsh Creek or safely by the Sachs Covered Bridge in the late-afternoon winter sun. This bridge was used by Union and Confederate troops prior to the Battle of Gettysburg and by Confederate forces during their retreat back to Virginia following the battle. Thank you, Jan, for your kind encouragement. It was an interesting place to visit this winter - not too many footprints around after some heavy snows and cold temperatures. - Mike

An excellent capture of Sach's covered bridge, superb angle and light! I have to say this is one of the best images I have seen of this bridge! Well done! LF Congrats on your recent features~
Michael Mazaika replied:
For as often as I've come to the Gettysburg battlefield, some 50 years now, I hadn't spent much time visiting this wonderful covered bridge. Makes it all the more special these days and I can't wait to see it in the fall. Angela, thank you for your very kind remarks and support. They are greatly appreciated. - Mike
