Description
Late afternoon sunlight at the end of summer illuminates this view southerly towards the Witherspoon (also known as the Red or Anderson Road) Covered Bridge over Licking Creek leading into the West Branch of the Conococheague Creek. The Witherspoon covered bridge was originally built in 1883. The marking on the right side of the entry portal about one-third of the way up indicates the elevation of the floodwater line due to Hurricane Agnes in June 1972. Looks like home, beautiful Michael, congratulations on your sale.
Michael Mazaika replied:
Thank you, Donna. It's a peaceful spot with a great stone-arched bridge just down stream (i.e., an excuse to return next spring). - Mike
